Panel fit and coil draw
The Siemens 3RT2017-2AP62 is a SIRIUS Size S00 power contactor — the smallest frame in the SIRIUS contactor family, sized for motor loads and resistive switching in control panels up to around 5.5 kW at 400 V AC-3 (typical induction motor duty). The 24 VDC coil draws 10 A at rated voltage, so budget for a 24 VDC supply that can handle the inrush; the spring-type coil terminals accept 0.5 to 4 mm² solid or stranded wire, same as the main contacts. Mounting is screw-and-snap onto standard 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, with a 45 mm wide body that leaves room for auxiliary contact blocks alongside. The 73 mm depth keeps it clear of shallow enclosure back panels — measure your enclosure depth before committing the BOM line.
Switching duty and thermal limits
Rated for 1 000 operations per hour at AC-1 (resistive loads), 750/h at AC-2 and AC-3 (motor starting/running), and 250/h at AC-4 (plugging/inching). The arcing time sits between 10 and 15 ms at 50/60 Hz. Operating temperature spans -25 to +60 °C; storage range is -55 to +80 °C. If your panel sees sustained ambient above 60 °C, this contactor needs derating or a forced-air layout. Main contacts are rated for 20 A (AC-1) down to 12 A (AC-3), with the 24 VDC coil consuming 10 A at pickup. The auxiliary switch is built in — no separate add-on block needed for basic feedback.
Mounting and clearance notes
Mounting position allows +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface and can be tilted forward/backward by +/-22.5°. Clearance requirements: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 10 mm downwards, 6 mm at the side — tight enough for dense DIN-rail layouts, but check that forward clearance if the enclosure door has components mounted on the back panel.
