Panel fit and switching duty
The 3RT2017-2BG41 is a SIRUS S00-frame power contactor with spring-type terminals on the magnet coil, meaning no screw torque check on the coil connection during panel build. The 10 mm forward clearance is the binding constraint when panel depth is tight.
Duty-cycle limits and mechanical life
Mechanical life expectancy is 30 million operating cycles typical — the failure mode is contact wear, not the solenoid. The switching frequency ceiling varies by duty: 1,000 ops/h in AC-1 (resistive), 750 ops/h in AC-2 and AC-3 (motor starting), and 250 ops/h in AC-4 (plugging/inching). Exceeding these rates accelerates contact erosion and raises the probability of a welded contact before the rated mechanical life. The 60 °C ceiling at full rated load means derating is needed above 40 °C ambient in a sealed enclosure — plan the thermal budget accordingly.
Auxiliary contact ratings and conductor sizing
At 400 V the rating is 3 A — this is the value that governs most 400 V control circuits. The motor horsepower rating at 230 V is 2 hp, which maps to a typical 1.5 kW motor at that voltage. Conductor cross-section accepted: solid or stranded 0.5 to 4 mm², and 2x (0.5 to 4 mm²) for looping through. The spring-type terminals on the coil side accept the same range, which simplifies wire selection for the control transformer feed.
