What It Is and Where It Fits
The Siemens 3RT2017-2KF41 is a SIRIUS coupling contactor in size S00 — the smallest frame in the SIRIUS family, designed for switching auxiliary and light motor loads in control panels. It mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, either screw-fixed or snapped on, and can be rotated ±180° on a vertical surface or tilted ±22.5° forward/backward, giving flexibility in tight enclosures. The coil is rated 110 V AC, and the contactor carries a 3 A rating at 400 V, making it suitable for switching small motors, contactor coils, or signal circuits where a coupling function — isolating or interlocking two control signals — is needed.
Terminal and Wiring Detail
The magnet coil uses spring-type terminals, accepting solid or stranded wire from 0.5 to 4 mm², and up to 2x (0.5 to 4 mm²) per clamp. The spring cage holds the wire without retightening — preferred in high-vibration panels or where maintenance access is limited. Clearance distances: 10 mm upwards and forwards, 10 mm downwards, 6 mm at the side. That 45 mm width and 70 mm height with 73 mm depth means it fits in a standard 45 mm-wide DIN slot — no oversize enclosure needed.
Switching Performance and Life
Maximum operating frequency depends on load: 1 000 cycles/hour at AC-1 (resistive), 750 cycles/hour at AC-2 and AC-3 (motor starting/running), and 250 cycles/hour at AC-4 (plugging/inching). Mechanical life is typical 30 000 000 operations. Arcing time is 10 to 15 ms; DC switching time is 7 to 20 ms. The contactor has no built-in auxiliary switch — if you need auxiliary contacts, they must be added as a separate side-mount block.
Environmental and Mounting Conditions
Operates from -25 to +60 °C; storage range is -55 to +80 °C. The initial pickup value is 0.7 of rated voltage, with a full-scale value of 1.25.
