What this contactor is and what it does
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT2017-2XF41-0LA2 is a size S00 power contactor built for switching motor loads in control panels and industrial machinery. The 72-125 V DC coil means it pulls in reliably on a 125 V DC control bus but holds in down to 72 V — useful on long cable runs where voltage drop eats into the pickup margin. The inrush current peak of 1.1 A tells the DC supply sizing: that's the instantaneous draw when the coil energizes, not the holding current.
Mounting and wiring fit
Fastens with screw or snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022 — the standard rail in every panel you've ever opened. The spring-type terminals on the coil accept 2x (0.5-1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75-2.5 mm²), or 2x 4 mm² solid wire; main contacts take 2x (0.5-4 mm²). That's enough cross-section for the motor leads on a size S00 contactor. Depth is 73 mm, width 45 mm, height 70 mm — it fits a standard 45 mm-wide slot on the rail. Clearance around the unit: 10 mm above and below, 6 mm to the side. No need to recut the panel if you're swapping from another S00 frame.
What the ratings mean for the panel
The DC coil type is the main thing to get right here. With a rated value of 72-125 V DC, this contactor is built for a 125 V DC control bus — common in mining and heavy industrial sites where the control voltage stays up even when the AC dips. The arcing time of 10-15 ms and the DC dropout time of 25-45 ms matter for interlocking logic: the auxiliary contacts change state within that window. Operating temperature range is -40 to +70 °C, storage -55 to +80 °C. That covers a hot panel in summer or a cold startup in a northern mill.
