What it is and where it fits
The Siemens 3RT2018-1AN22 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the compact Size S00 frame (45 mm wide, 58 mm high, 73 mm deep) — the smallest footprint in the SIRIUS contactor family, sized for panel density where every millimeter counts. It fastens with screws or snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, and the mounting position allows ±180° rotation on a vertical surface plus ±22.5° tilt forward/backward — useful when the enclosure layout forces an odd angle.
Ratings that drive the selection
The contactor's mechanical life is rated at 30 million operations typical — that's the wear limit of the mechanism, not the contacts. The electrical switching frequency depends on duty: AC-1 (resistive) allows up to 1,000 ops/h, AC-2 and AC-3 (motor start/run) cap at 750 ops/h, and AC-4 (plugging/inching) drops to 250 ops/h. For AC-3e (enhanced motor) it's also 750 ops/h. The auxiliary switch (1 N/O + 1 N/C, 20–12 rating for main contacts) handles control signals at various voltages: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V or 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, and 3 A at 400 V. At 440 V it drops to 0.2 A — derate for higher voltages. Coil is 24 VDC with screw-type terminals. Arcing time runs 10–15 ms; switching time at AC is 4–15 ms. Ambient operating range is -25 to +60 °C; storage range is -55 to +80 °C.
Wiring and installation notes
Terminals accept solid or stranded wire: 0.5–4 mm² single, or 2×(0.5–1.5 mm²), 2×(0.75–2.5 mm²), or 2×4 mm². Clearance distances: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 10 mm downwards, 6 mm at the side.
