SIRIUS 3RT2018-1AP04-3MA0 — Panel Fit and Duty Cycle
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT2018-1AP04-3MA0 is a Size S00 power contactor — the compact frame in the SIRIUS family, at 45 mm wide and 58 mm tall, with a 117 mm depth. It fastens via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, so it drops straight into a standard panel rail without adapters. The coil termination uses screw-type terminals, which is the conventional choice for maintenance shops that prefer a screwdriver over a cage-push tool. Switching frequency varies by duty class: up to 1,000 operations per hour at AC-1 (resistive loads), 750/h at AC-2 and AC-3 (motor starting and running), and 250/h at AC-4 (plugging and inching). For AC-3e — the energy-efficient motor rating — it also holds 750/h. That means in a conveyor or pump application running AC-3 duty, the contactor cycles every 4.8 seconds continuously without exceeding its mechanical design. Operating temperature spans -25 to +60 °C during operation, with storage from -55 to +80 °C. The mounting position allows +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface and +/-22.5° tilt forward/backward, giving panel builders flexibility in tight enclosures.
Wiring and Clearance
Main contact terminals accept solid or stranded conductors from 0.5 to 4 mm², with dual-wire capability: 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or 2x 4 mm². Clearance distances around the contactor: 10 mm upwards and forwards, 10 mm downwards, 6 mm at the sides. These are the minimum air gaps for heat dissipation and arc containment — panel layout should respect them, especially when grouping multiple contactors side by side. Arcing time is 10 to 15 ms at AC, and the make/break times (at AC) span 4 to 15 ms. The coil draws 0.25 A at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz — a consistent pull that simplifies transformer sizing in mixed-frequency installations.
