What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT2023-1BE40 is a SIRIUS power contactor in Size S0, designed for switching motor loads and resistive loads in control panels. It carries a 24 V DC coil with screw-type terminals and includes an auxiliary switch. The contactor is rated for 10 A at 24 V DC and 1 hp at 230 V, with a maximum switching rate of 1 000 operations per hour under AC-1, AC-2, AC-3, and AC-3e duty, and 300 operations per hour under AC-4 duty. It mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, and the mounting position allows +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface plus +/-22.5° tilt forward and backward.
Key ratings and what they mean for fit
The DC breaking capacity is specified at multiple voltages: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V and 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, and 3 A at 400 V. These values define the maximum DC load the contactor can interrupt — important for battery-backed or rectified DC bus circuits where the arc extinguishes differently than AC. Mechanical life is rated at 10 000 000 operations typical, and the contactor operates across -25 to +60 °C ambient, with storage from -55 to +80 °C. The arcing time is 10 to 10 ms at DC. Wire ranges: solid or stranded 1... 10 mm², and fine-stranded 2x (0.5... 1.5 mm²) or 2x (0.75... 2.5 mm²). Main contact screw torque is 16... 8 Nm.
Sourcing and lifecycle
For BOM-line sourcing, this part is quoted to order against an RFQ. The clearance requirements for installation are: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 10 mm downwards, and 6 mm at the side.
Panel integration details
The contactor occupies 45 mm width on the DIN rail, with a height of 85 mm and depth of 107 mm. The DC operating time (closing + opening) is 15... 18 ms.
