What it is and where it lands
The Siemens 3RT2024-1AD04 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the S0 frame size — a 45 mm wide unit built for switching resistive and light inductive loads in control panels. It mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 60715, which means it drops into any standard industrial enclosure without adapters.
What the ratings mean for fit
The headline AC-1 rating is 11 A at 480 V — that's the resistive load curve, so it handles heaters, lighting banks, and transformer primaries up to that current. For motor duty (AC-3), the rating is lower; the part is sized for the load, not the contactor frame. The coil terminals are screw-type, which is the standard for panel wiring; no special crimp tool needed. Wire range accepts solid or stranded 1 to 10 mm² (roughly 16 to 8 AWG) for the main contacts, and the auxiliary contact wiring can take 2x 0.5 to 2.5 mm². That covers most panel interconnections without needing reducers. Mechanical life is 10 million operations typical — that's a long service interval for a contactor that cycles a few times per hour. The operating temperature span of -25 to +60 °C means it's fine inside a non-climate-controlled cabinet as long as it's not right next to a heat source.
Mounting and clearances
The S0 frame is 85 mm tall and 141 mm deep. Side clearance to adjacent devices is 6 mm; vertical clearance above and below is 10 mm. The mounting position allows +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface and can be tilted forward/backward by +/-22.5° — useful when the panel layout forces an odd angle.
