The main contact rating at 480 V is 14 A — that's the AC-3 motor switching figure, so it handles a 7.5 hp motor at that voltage. For auxiliary contacts, the 24 V DC rating is 6 A, dropping to 0.3 A at 230 V AC; these numbers govern the control circuit capacity, not the power path.
Solid or stranded wire from 1 to 10 mm² is accepted; for the auxiliary circuit, two conductors of 0.5 to 1.5 mm² or 0.75 to 2.5 mm² can be doubled up per terminal.
Environmental and Mechanical Notes
Electrical endurance varies by duty: 1,000,000 operations at AC-3, dropping to 300,000 at AC-4 for heavy jogging or inching duty. Arcing time is 10 ms at AC, and the switching frequency maxes out at 1,000 operations per hour for AC-1, AC-2, and AC-3 duty. For AC-4, the limit is 300 operations per hour — the harder the switching, the more thermal recovery time the contacts need.
