The S0 frame is a common mid-range size in the SIRIUS contactor family, balancing compact footprint with sufficient contact rating for pumps, fans, and small conveyors up to around 7.5 kW at 400 V AC-3 duty.
The coil is rated for 400 V at 50 Hz and 440 V at 60 Hz, so it pulls in reliably on standard European 400 V three-phase systems and on North American 480 V systems where the line-to-line voltage is 480 V but the contactor coil sees 440 V at 60 Hz. The coil connection uses a ring cable lug, which is a secure termination for permanent wiring — not a quick-connect tab. The magnet coil draws 0.25 A at 50 Hz and 0.28 A at 60 Hz, so the control transformer or PLC output driving it needs to source at least that inrush.
The contactor is rated for different switching frequencies depending on the load category. For AC-1 (resistive loads) it handles up to 1,000 operations per hour. For AC-3 (squirrel-cage motors, starting and running) and AC-3e (enhanced AC-3 for energy-efficient motors) it manages 750 ops/h. For AC-4 (plugging, inching, reversing) the rate drops to 250 ops/h — the arcing time is 10 to 10 ms, and the switching time at AC is 4 to 16 ms.
The built-in auxiliary switch is rated for switching at various control voltages: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V and 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, 3 A at 400 V, 0.6 A at 440 V, 21 A at 480 V, and 2 A at 500 V. The 21 A rating at 480 V stands out — that's a pilot-duty rating for switching large contactor coils or solenoid valves directly without an interposing relay. The 3 hp rating at 230 V confirms it can switch small single-phase motor loads directly on the auxiliary contacts.
Clearance requirements are tight: 10 mm upwards, forwards, and downwards, and only 6 mm at the sides — so it can be packed tightly in a row with other S0 devices.
