SIRIUS S0 power contactor — 34 A at 480 V, spring terminals
Its headline rating is 34 A at 480 V in AC-3 duty — the motor-switching current that governs real-world sizing for three-phase induction motors up to roughly 15 kW at 480 V. The spring-type terminals on the magnet coil and main/auxiliary contacts accept solid or stranded wire from 1 to 10 mm², with dual-wire capability up to 2x 2.5 mm². Mounting is via screw and snap-on onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, and the contactor can be rotated ±180° on a vertical surface or tilted ±22.5° forward/backward — useful when panel layout forces an unconventional orientation. The S0 frame footprint (45 mm wide, 102 mm tall, 97 mm deep) fits standard 45 mm-wide DIN-rail slots; plan for 6 mm side clearance and 10 mm clearance in all other directions for heat dissipation and arc containment.
Duty-cycle and switching frequency
The contactor is rated for different mechanical switching frequencies depending on the duty class: 1,000 cycles/hour at AC-1 (resistive), 750 cycles/hour at AC-2 and AC-3 (motor start/run), and 250 cycles/hour at AC-4 (plugging/inching). The AC-3e rating also caps at 750 cycles/hour. For applications requiring frequent jogging or reversing, the AC-4 limit is the binding constraint — oversizing to the next frame may be needed if the cycle rate exceeds 250 per hour.
Auxiliary contact block and ratings
An auxiliary switch is integrated, with main contacts configured as 18 normally-open and 8 normally-closed — a generous auxiliary count for feedback or interlocking without an add-on block. The auxiliary contact ratings vary by voltage: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V and 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, and 3 A at 400 V. These are thermal current ratings; derate for inductive DC loads per the manufacturer's curve.
