SIRIUS S2 power contactor for motor and resistive loads
The Siemens 3RT2035-1AD00 is a SIRIUS-branded power contactor in the S2 frame size, rated 40 A at 480 V. It mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, making it a direct panel fit for standard industrial control cabinets. The operating temperature range of -25 to +60 °C covers most indoor and sheltered outdoor installations without derating concerns.
Panel integration and mounting
The 55 mm width and 114 mm height fit a standard S2 footprint on the DIN rail. Clearance requirements are 10 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 10 mm downwards, and 6 mm at the side — tight enough for dense panel layouts. Mounting position allows ±180° rotation on a vertical surface and ±22.5° tilt forward/backward, which helps when routing cables in constrained enclosures.
Switching performance and coil data
The magnet coil uses screw-type terminals. Arcing time spans 10 to 20 ms, with AC switching times of 10 to 18 ms. Maximum mechanical operating frequency hits 10 million cycles typical for the contactor. For load switching, the rated values are 1 200 cycles/hour at AC-1, 750 at AC-2, 1 000 at AC-3, and 300 at AC-4 — the AC-3e rating also sits at 1 000 cycles/hour. These figures govern how aggressively you can cycle motor starts without exceeding thermal limits.
Auxiliary contact and wiring
An auxiliary switch is included. Main contact wiring accepts 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) or 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded conductors. Auxiliary contact ratings cover 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, 3 A at 400 V, 0.6 A at 440 V, 2 A at 500 V, and 7.5 hp at 230 V. The 40 A at 480 V main rating handles motor starting and resistive heating loads within the S2 frame.
