What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT2035-1AK60-ZX95 is a SIRIUS S2 power contactor — a 3-pole device rated for switching motor loads up to 40 A in AC-3 duty at 480 V. That AC-3 rating is the one that matters for most induction-motor applications: it covers starting and disconnecting a running motor, not just resistive heating. The coil is 24 VDC with screw-type terminals, and the main contacts are rated for 18 A at 400 V AC-1 (resistive) and 40 A at 480 V AC-3. The auxiliary switch is included, with its own contact ratings across a range of control voltages — 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V, 1 A at 110 V, and so on down to 0.3 A at 220 V.
Mounting and integration
Mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. The mounting position is flexible: +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface, and can be tilted forward/backward by +/-22.5° on a vertical surface. Clearances: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 10 mm downwards, 6 mm at the side. Wire acceptance: 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) or 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded. The S2 frame size keeps the panel footprint compact — 55 mm wide, 114 mm high, 130 mm deep.
Environmental and operating limits
Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C; storage range is -55 to +80 °C. The contactor is rated for up to 1 000 switching cycles per hour in AC-3 duty, 1 200 in AC-1, and 300 in AC-4 (plugging/inching). Mechanical life is 10 million operations typical.
