SIRIUS Size S2 power contactor — 480 V 40 A AC-3, screw terminals, DIN rail
The Siemens 3RT2035-1CP04 is a SIRIUS Size S2 power contactor rated for 40 A at 480 V in AC-3 duty, making it the right fit for switching three-phase motor loads up to that current in a 480 V line. The screw-type coil terminals accept 2x (0.5…1.5 mm²) or 2x (0.75…2.5 mm²) solid or stranded wire, so it integrates cleanly into a panel built around traditional screw-clamp wiring. Mounting is screw-and-snap onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715; the 55 mm width and 114 mm height leave room for adjacent devices in a crowded enclosure.
Switching frequency and duty-cycle capability
This contactor is rated for 1 200 operations per hour in AC-1 (resistive) duty, 1 000/h in AC-3 (motor starting) and AC-3e duty, 750/h in AC-2 (slip-ring motor), and 300/h in AC-4 (plugging/inching). For a motor-driven conveyor or pump cycling every few seconds, the AC-3 figure of 1 000/h — roughly one operation every 3.6 seconds — is the practical ceiling. Exceeding that rate in AC-4 duty accelerates contact wear; the 300/h limit there reflects the heavier arc stress of reversing or inching.
Mounting and clearances
Mounting position allows +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface and +/-22.5° tilt forward/backward. Minimum clearances to adjacent parts: 10 mm upward, 10 mm downward, 10 mm forward, 6 mm at the side. The 174 mm depth includes the contactor body and terminal projection; plan for that when laying out the DIN rail against the enclosure backplate.
