What this contactor delivers on the line
The Siemens 3RT2035-1NB34 is a SIRIUS S2-size power contactor rated for continuous switching in motor control panels. Its coil holds at 20–33 V rated value with a 1.1x full-scale pick-up margin and drops out at 0.8x initial value — deterministic every cycle. Main contacts are 18–1 configuration, screw-type terminals, sized for 2x (0.5…1.5 mm²) solid or stranded and 2x (0.75…2.5 mm²) per pole. It switches AC-3 loads up to 1 000 operations per hour, and AC-4 at 300 ops/h — keeps takt time on a body-shop weld line where one minute of downtime costs thousands.
Dimensions: 114 mm high, 55 mm wide, 174 mm deep — the 55 mm width is the critical fill factor on a crowded DIN rail. Operating temperature range -25…+60 °C; storage -55…+80 °C.
Switching performance and coil draw
Arcing time 10…20 ms; switching times 30…55 ms for both AC and DC. Coil inrush peaks at 3 A; holding current at 24 V rated value is 6 A, dropping to 2 A at 48 V and 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, and 0.3 A at 220 V. Coil power consumption at 50 Hz and 60 Hz is 2 VA. These numbers matter for control transformer sizing and PLC output drive — the 6 A inrush at 24 V means the PLC output must handle that surge without dropping out.
