Siemens 3RT2035-3AL20 — SIRIUS S2 Power Contactor, Spring-Terminal
The Siemens 3RT2035-3AL20 is a SIRIUS power contactor in size S2, rated for AC-3 duty at 480 V and 40 A — that's the motor-switching current, not the resistive load curve. Spring-type terminals on the coil and main contacts speed up panel wiring; no screw torque to verify, just strip to 8 mm and push. The contactor snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715 or screws to a backplate, with ±180° rotation on a vertical surface and ±22.5° tilt forward/backward. At AC-3 duty the max switching rate is 1 000 cycles per hour; at AC-4 (plugging/reversing) it drops to 300 cycles per hour. The arcing time runs 10 to 20 ms, and the contactor carries an auxiliary switch block from the factory.
Panel Fit and Clearance
The 3RT2035-3AL20 measures 55 mm wide, 114 mm tall, and 130 mm deep. For side-by-side mounting on DIN rail, allow 6 mm lateral clearance between contactors; 10 mm upward and forward, 10 mm downward. Main contacts accept 2 × (0.5 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded conductors.
