Integrator note — 3RT2035-3AP06
The Siemens 3RT2035-3AP06 is a SIRIUS power contactor in size S2, rated 40 A at 480 V in AC-3 duty — that's the motor-switching current, not the resistive-heat rating. Spring-type terminals on the coil and main contacts; no auxiliary switch block is included on this variant. Mounting is screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. The mounting position allows +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface and can be tilted forward/backward by +/-22.5° on a vertical surface, which gives some flexibility in tight enclosures. Clearance requirements: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 10 mm downwards, and 6 mm at the side. The depth is 130 mm, width 75 mm, height 114 mm — factor those into your DIN-rail layout and enclosure depth.
Electrical ratings and what they mean for selection
The headline 40 A at 480 V is the AC-3 rating for switching squirrel-cage motors. For resistive loads (AC-1), the maximum operating rate is 1,200 switching cycles per hour; for AC-3 it's 1,000 1/h; for AC-4 (plugging/reversing) it drops to 300 1/h. The AC-3e rating is also 1,000 1/h. The coil's switching time at AC is 10 to 18 ms, with an arcing time of 10 to 20 ms. That's within the expected range for a contactor this size — the arcing time matters for coordination with upstream protection devices. Auxiliary contact ratings are given per voltage: 6 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, 3 A at 400 V, 0.6 A at 440 V, and 2 A at 500 V. The 230 V rating is expressed as 7.5 hp — that's the motor horsepower you can switch at that voltage. Mechanical life is typical 10,000,000 operations. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C; storage range is -55 to +80 °C.
Wiring and termination
Spring-type terminals on the magnet coil and main contacts. Accepts 2 x (0.5 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded wire. The main contact configuration is 18...1 — three normally open main poles.
