What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT2036-1AR60 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the size S2 frame, rated for 52 A at 480 V in AC-3 duty — that's the motor-switching current, not the resistive heating rating, so it's the number that decides whether this contactor holds in on a 30 hp pump or conveyor motor at 480 V three-phase. It mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, and the mounting position is flexible: +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface, plus +/-22.5° tilt forward or backward — useful when the panel layout is tight and you need to angle the contactor to clear a busbar or duct. The coil terminals are screw-type, and the main and auxiliary wiring accepts 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) or 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded — standard for panel wire up to 14 AWG.
Switching frequencies and life
Maximum switching rates are duty-dependent: 1 000 cycles/hour in AC-1 (resistive), 800 in AC-3 (motor start/run), 600 in AC-2 (slip-ring motor), and 250 in AC-4 (plugging/inching). Mechanical life is typical 10 000 000 operations — that's the contactor body, not the contacts under load. The auxiliary contact block (18 to 1 configuration) is integrated, so you don't lose a slot on the DIN rail for a separate block.

Operates from -25 °C to +60 °C, stores from -55 °C to +80 °C — the storage range covers most warehouse and shipping conditions without special handling.
