Coupling contactor for interlocking and load isolation
The 3RT2036-1KB44 is a SIRIUS coupling contactor — not a general-purpose motor starter, but a unit designed for load isolation, interlocking between power paths, or switching auxiliary circuits where the main contacts are configured as 18...1 (typically 3 NO + 1 NC). The 24 VDC coil draws a 2.6 A inrush peak, with a hold current that settles within the 30-55 ms pickup time. The arcing time is 10-20 ms, which matters when coordinating with upstream protection devices. Rated for 10 hp at 230 V, it fits motor loads in that power band, but the switching rate limits per duty cycle (800 ops/h at AC-3, 250 ops/h at AC-4) define the application envelope.
