Integrator's read on the 3RT2036-3SF30
The Siemens 3RT2036-3SF30 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the S2 frame, built for switching motor loads in control panels. Coil range is 83 to 150 V AC/DC — covers 110 V and 120 V control circuits common in North American and European panels. Spring-type terminals on the magnet coil mean no screw torque to verify; strip to 8 mm and seat. MTBF sits at 52 a, which for a contactor in continuous duty is a solid reliability figure — not a consumable part you plan to swap on a PM schedule.
Mounting and panel fit
Fastens via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. Mounting position is flexible — ±180° rotation on a vertical surface, plus ±22.5° tilt forward/backward. That helps when the gland plate forces an odd orientation. Dimensions: 55 mm wide, 114 mm high, 130 mm deep. Clearances: 10 mm upward/downward/forward, 6 mm at the sides. The S2 frame is a standard footprint; it'll slot into a multi-contactor bank without surprises.
Switching duty and coil draw
Rated for AC-1 (resistive) at 1 000 ops/h, AC-3 (motor starting) at 800 ops/h, and AC-4 (plugging/inching) at 250 ops/h. Arcing time is 10 to 20 ms; pick-up and drop-out delays run 30 to 55 ms for both AC and DC. Coil inrush peaks at 25 A, steady-state draw is 2 VA at 50 Hz or 60 Hz. Auxiliary switch is included — no add-on block needed for basic status feedback.
