What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT2037-1AD00 is a SIRIUS S2 power contactor — the core switching element for motor loads in industrial control panels. It's rated 65 A in AC-3 duty at 480 V, which means it handles the inrush and breaking of three-phase induction motors up to that current class. The S2 frame size (114 mm high, 55 mm wide, 130 mm deep) is a common footprint across the SIRIUS line, so panel layouts transfer between frame-matched contactors and overload relays.
Mounting and integration
Fastens by screw or snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. The mounting position is flexible — ±180° rotation on a vertical surface, plus ±22.5° tilt forward/backward — which helps when the panel layout is tight or the gland plate forces an odd angle. Clearance: 10 mm upward, 10 mm forward, 6 mm at the side, 10 mm downward. That 6 mm side gap is the tightest constraint; adjacent devices need that clearance for arc flash and heat dissipation.
Ratings and what they mean for the buyer
AC-3 switching frequency is 700 operations per hour (also rated 700 1/h for AC-3e). That's the sustained mechanical rate for motor starting — not a burst rating. AC-4 (plugging/inching) drops to 200 1/h because the contactor sees full locked-rotor current on every make and break. The main contact spring life is 10 million operations typical, which is the mechanical endurance before the contactor needs replacement. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C; storage range is -55 to +80 °C — the storage limit governs handling and warehousing, not running.
