S2 frame contactor — 65 A at 480 V AC-3 motor duty
The 3RT2037-3AF00: This SIRIUS power contactor, size S2, is rated for 65 A at 480 V in AC-3 duty — the motor-switching rating that governs the real load, not the AC-1 resistive figure. At 230 V it carries 10 hp, which lines up with a typical 10 HP three-phase motor on a 230 V supply. The coil pulls 110 V at 50 Hz. The magnet coil termination uses spring-type terminals, so you land the control wires without a screwdriver — push the ferrule in and the cage holds. The auxiliary switch is present, configurable as 18 normally-open and 1 normally-closed main contact arrangement, which gives you a feedback contact for the PLC or a seal-in circuit. Arcing time runs 10 to 18 ms at AC, total arc duration 10 to 20 ms. That window matters for coordination with upstream short-circuit protection — the contactor clears the arc before the breaker's magnetic trip responds, provided the let-through energy stays within the contactor's withstand rating.

These set the thermal duty cycle — if your process calls for frequent starts (conveyor indexing, crane hoist), stay below the AC-4 ceiling or the contactor will overheat. These are the DC-13 switching limits for the built-in auxiliary — if your PLC input or interlock circuit runs at 24 VDC, the contact can break 10 A, which is well above a typical 0.5 A PLC input draw. Typical mechanical life of the contactor is 10,000,000 operations. The electrical life depends on the switching category and load current — at AC-3 rated current expect roughly 1-2 million operations before the main contacts need replacement.
