Switching performance and duty-cycle limits
Maximum switching frequency varies by duty: 700 cycles/h for AC-1 (resistive), 500 cycles/h for AC-3 (squirrel-cage motors), and 150 cycles/h for AC-4 (plugging/inching). AC-3e rating matches the AC-3 figure at 500 cycles/h. These limits define the thermal capacity per hour — exceeding them risks overheating the contactor.
