SIRIUS S3 power contactor — 77 A at 480 V, screw terminals
The 3RT2045-1AB04: It carries a 15 hp rating at 230 V, so it handles a 15 hp motor on a 230 V line without derating. The main contacts are 3-pole normally open (10... 2 configuration), and an auxiliary switch is built in — one less add-on module to order for feedback or status signaling.
Switching frequency and duty-cycle limits
Maximum switching rate depends on the duty class: 1 000 cycles/hour in AC-3 (standard motor start/stop), 900 in AC-1 (resistive loads), 400 in AC-2 (wound-rotor motors), and 300 in AC-4 (plugging/inching). For AC-3e (enhanced motor switching) the ceiling is also 1 000 cycles/hour. These are the limits the contactor can sustain without overheating the coil or arc chamber. Arcing time runs 10 to 20 ms, and the total operating time (coil energize to contact closure) is 10 to 21 ms at AC.
Mounting, wiring, and panel fit
Wire sizing is generous: solid conductors 2.5 to 16 mm², stranded 6 to 70 mm² for the main circuit. Physical footprint: 70 mm wide, 140 mm high, 195 mm deep.
Environmental range and auxiliary contact ratings
The auxiliary contact (24 V rated value 6 A, 48 V 2 A, 110 V 1 A, 230 V 0.3 A) covers most PLC input and relay coil loads without a separate interface relay.
