SIRIUS S3 Power Contactor – Panel Fit and Lifecycle Read
Clearance distances are 10 mm upwards, downwards, and to the side, and 20 mm forwards — plan your gland plate and busbar layout accordingly.
Duty Ratings and Switching Frequency
This contactor is rated for different switching frequencies depending on the duty class: 900 operations per hour at AC-1 (resistive), 400 at AC-2 (slip-ring motors), 1,000 at AC-3 (squirrel-cage motors), and 300 at AC-4 (plugging/inching). The AC-3e maximum is also 1,000 ops/h. For a typical conveyor or pump motor on AC-3 duty, that means you can cycle it every 3.6 seconds continuously — well within the demands of most automated lines. Auxiliary contacts are present and carry rated currents from 10 A at 24 V down to 0.3 A at 220 V, with a 15 hp rating at 230 V. Operating time at AC is 10 to 21 ms, arcing time 10 to 20 ms — fast enough for most control schemes but verify coordination with your PLC scan cycle if you're using the auxiliary for feedback.
Compliance documentation typically includes RoHS, REACH, and IEC/EN 60947-4-1 declarations from Siemens. The DIN rail mounting standard (DIN EN 60715) is cited, and the spring-type coil terminals eliminate the need for screw tightening on the control circuit — a time-saver during panel build.
