Current production — what that means for your BOM line
The 3RT2045-3SF30: Spring-type terminals on the coil mean no screw torque check during commissioning — the cage clamps the wire and holds.
Panel fit and clearance envelope
The S3 frame footprint is 70 mm wide × 140 mm high × 152 mm deep. These are the arcing and cooling gaps — pack them tighter and the contactor derates or the arc flash extends to adjacent devices. Useful when the gland plate or busbars force an off-axis install.
Switching duty and mechanical life
Rated for 1,000 operations per hour in AC-3 motor switching duty and 900 ops/h in AC-1 resistive load duty. The AC-4 maximum of 300 ops/h reflects the heavier inrush of plugging or inching applications. Mechanical life is 5 million operations typical. MTBF is listed at 52 years — a reliability figure that assumes the contactor is operated within its rated duty cycle and ambient limits. Arcing time is 10–20 ms; the make/close times are 38–57 ms for both AC and DC coils. These matter for coordinating with upstream short-circuit protection and downstream contactors in a reversing starter.
Termination and auxiliary contacts
Main power terminals accept solid wire 2.5–16 mm² or stranded 6–70 mm². The auxiliary contact block is present — the contactor ships with a built-in auxiliary switch, so no separate add-on module is needed for basic feedback. Coil inrush peaks at 25 A; holding power is 2.4 VA at both 50 and 60 Hz. The PLC output driving this coil needs to handle the inrush surge, not just the sealed VA.
