The Siemens 3RT2046-3AK60 is a SIRIUS-branded Size S3 power contactor — the frame size that handles the middle band of motor and resistive loads in a control panel. The main contacts accept solid wire from 2.5 to 16 mm² and stranded from 6 to 70 mm², with the auxiliary contact block taking 2x (0.5 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded. That wire range covers most panel wiring up to a 70 mm² motor feed.
The 70 mm width and 152 mm depth are the envelope to plan for on the rail.
Duty cycle and switching frequency
Switching frequency depends on the duty category. At AC-1 (resistive) it manages 900 operations per hour maximum. At AC-3 (standard motor starting) it's rated for 850 ops/h, and the AC-3e variant (enhanced motor starting with electronic overload) matches that at 850 ops/h. For heavy-duty AC-4 (plugging, inching) it drops to 250 ops/h. The arcing time sits between 10 and 20 ms, with the magnet coil operating time at 10 to 21 ms.
Thermal environment and auxiliary contact ratings
The auxiliary switch carries current ratings across voltages: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V and 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, 3 A at 400 V, and 0.8 A at 440 V (–). At 230 V it's rated for 20 hp. Power factor correction capacitors: 0.36 at 50 Hz, 0.4 at 60 Hz.
