Wiring note for the S3 frame
The Siemens 3RT2047-1AK60 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the S3 frame, rated for AC-3 motor switching at up to 850 operations per hour. Mechanical life is 10 million cycles typical – that's a decade or more of daily cycling on an automated conveyor or pump. Out here in the grease, I've seen contactors choke on a line that cycles every 30 seconds; this one's built for that rhythm. Depth is 152 mm, so check your cabinet clearance before you start wiring. Wire terminations handle solid from 2.5 to 16 mm² or stranded up to 70 mm², meaning you can land a fat motor cable without an adapter. Operating range -25 to +60 °C covers most factory-floor environments.
Mounting and clearances
Mounts on 35 mm DIN rail with screw and snap-on per DIN EN 60715. The mounting position is flexible: ±180° rotation on a vertical surface, and you can tilt it forward or backward by ±22.5° – handy if your panel layout is tight. Keep these minimum clearances for arc and heat: 10 mm up, 20 mm forward, 10 mm to each side, 10 mm down. Arcing time runs 10 to 20 ms, so those gaps matter for preventing flashover to adjacent gear.
