The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT2047-3CF04-3MA0 is a size S3 power contactor rated for 96 A at 480 V in AC-3 duty — that's the motor-switching current, so it handles a 20 hp load at 230 V and similar three-phase motors up to roughly 50 hp at 480 V. Spring-type terminals on the coil and a solid-wire range of 2.5 to 16 mm² mean no screw torque checks on the line; strip, insert, done. It snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, and the mounting position allows ±180° rotation on a vertical surface plus ±22.5° tilt forward/backward — useful when the panel layout forces an odd orientation.
Switching rates and contact life
Electrical switching rates depend on the duty: 900 cycles/hour in AC-1 resistive loads, 850 in AC-3 and AC-3e motor duty, 350 in AC-2, and 200 in AC-4 plugging/reversing (–,). Arcing time runs 10 to 20 ms, and the main contact sequence is 10 N/O + 2 N/C — that's a lot of normally-open poles for switching multiple loads off one contactor.
The built-in auxiliary switch carries 6 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V and 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, 3 A at 400 V, and 0.8 A at 440 V (–, –).
Dimensions: 140 mm high, 70 mm wide, 198 mm deep. Stranded wire range goes up to 70 mm², which matches the 96 A rating — 16 mm² is fine for the control circuit, but the main power circuit will need 25 to 35 mm² depending on ambient temperature and bundling.
