Motor Switching at 4 kW AC-3
The Siemens 3RT2316-1AP00 is a SIRIUS contactor in the size S00 frame, rated for 4 kW motor switching at AC-3 duty at 400 V. The rated operational current is 9 A at 400 V, and the contactor carries an AC-4 rating at the same 4 kW, covering plugging and inching duty cycles where the motor is reversed or stopped under load.
Coil Voltage and Wiring
Main power circuit and auxiliary switch wiring both use screw-type terminals. The main circuit accepts solid or stranded wire: 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or 2x 4 mm². The auxiliary circuit takes the same range down to 20 AWG.

The 3RT2316-1AP00 accepts up to two attachable auxiliary switch blocks. This is the same auxiliary capacity as the smaller-frame 3RT6015-1AF01 and 3RT6015-1AF02, but the 3RT2316 carries a higher motor rating — 4 kW vs 3 kW at AC-3 400 V — making it the better fit for a 4 kW motor load where the smaller frame would be marginal.
Rated impulse withstand voltage for the main circuit is 6 kV. These timing specs matter when coordinating with upstream short-circuit protection devices.
