What this contactor delivers in the nacelle
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT2316-1AP60 is a size S00 contactor rated for 9 A at 400 V and 4 kW in AC-3 duty — the motor-switching curve that governs most induction-motor starts up to that power. AC-3 at 400 V is the number that matters for a 4-pole motor in a pitch drive or cooling fan; the AC-4 rating at the same voltage covers plugging and inching, so this contactor handles reversing or jogging without derating. Screw-type terminals on both the main and auxiliary circuits, with a wire range accepting 0.5 to 4 mm² stranded and up to 2.5 mm² solid.
Sourcing and lifecycle — still an active line item
The contactor carries the SIRIUS brand, Siemens' industrial controls family, and is designed for global panel approvals (UL, CSA, CE, IEC).
Clearances and thermal reality
Side-by-side mounting is allowed — no mandatory gap between contactors on the DIN rail. These keep the arc chamber and coil from overheating in a dense panel. The coil power draw at AC is 0.24 A at both 50 and 60 Hz, and the power dissipation in hot operating state is 4.4 W — a manageable heat load for a 45 mm wide contactor.
