The Siemens 3RT2317-1AH00 is a SIRIUS contactor in the compact size S00 frame, rated for 5.5 kW motor load in AC-3 duty at 400 V (12 A rated operational current). The 45 mm wide body snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, or can be screw-mounted, with a depth of 73 mm and height of 58 mm — a standard footprint that fits most 200 mm deep enclosures with clearance for wiring.
Terminals and wiring
Both main and auxiliary circuits use screw-type terminals. The main current circuit accepts solid conductors from 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) up to 2x 4 mm², and stranded from 0.5 to 4 mm². The magnet coil connection uses the same screw terminal style. This is a conventional termination — no spring-cage option on this variant — so factor in screwdriver access and torque verification during panel build.
The 10% minimum relative humidity spec is typical for controlled indoor panel environments — no special condensation protection built in.
Coil and switching performance
The AC-operated magnet coil draws 0.25 A at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz (48 V coil voltage). Pick-up time is 7 to 13 ms at AC; arcing time runs 10 to 15 ms. Power dissipation in hot operating state is 6.4 W at AC — a modest heat load that won't drive enclosure cooling in most 200 mm deep panels, but worth summing across multiple contactors in a dense row.
