It uses screw-type terminals for the coil and includes an auxiliary switch. The contactor is designed for screw and snap-on mounting onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, and its mounting position allows ±180° rotation on a vertical surface plus ±22.5° tilt forward/backward, giving panel builders flexibility in tight enclosures.
DC switching is harder than AC because there is no natural zero-crossing to extinguish the arc. The 3RT2327-1BM40's DC-13 ratings (switching electromagnets, solenoids) vary sharply with voltage: at 24 V rated value it handles 10 A, at 48 V rated value 2 A, at 60 V rated value 6 A, at 110 V rated value 1 A, at 125 V rated value 0.9 A, at 220 V rated value 0.3 A, at 230 V rated value 10 A, at 400 V rated value 3 A, at 500 V rated value 2 A, at 600 V rated value 0.1 A, and at 690 V rated value 1 A. The 230 V and 400 V entries likely reflect AC-1 or AC-3 duty; for pure DC loads, the 220 V 0.3 A figure is the one to size against.
The contactor occupies a 60 mm wide, 85 mm high, 107 mm deep footprint on the DIN rail. Main contact wiring accepts stranded conductors from 1 to 10 mm²; auxiliary contact wiring accepts solid or stranded 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) or 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²).
