SIRIUS S3 contactor — AC coil, 3-pole, DIN-rail mount
The Siemens 3RT2344-1AF00 is a SIRIUS-branded size S3 contactor with an AC-operated magnet coil terminated at screw-type terminals. It switches three main poles and carries one instantaneous auxiliary contact. Rated for 10 A at 24 V, 6 A at 60 V, 6 A at 230 V, and 3 A at 400 V, the contactor covers a wide range of control voltages for motor and resistive loads in industrial panels.
The AC coil (type of voltage: AC) pulls in and drops out with typical arcing times of 10 to 20 ms and an operate time at AC of 10 to 21 ms. For a commissioning engineer, this means the contactor is suited for standard AC control circuits — not DC coils — so verify your control transformer or PLC output matches AC before wiring. Rated operational currents span from 10 A at 24 V down to 0.1 A at 600 V, with a notable 6 A at 60 V and 6 A at 230 V. Mechanical endurance is rated at 10,000,000 operating cycles typical, which for a packaging line running at 60 cycles per minute translates to roughly 2,800 hours of continuous duty before mechanical wear becomes a consideration. The auxiliary switch (1 instantaneous contact) shares the same mechanical life.
Dimensions: 140 mm high, 96 mm wide, 152 mm deep. The 96 mm width occupies three standard 18 mm DIN-rail module spaces, so budget three positions on the rail. Main circuit wiring accepts stranded conductors from 6 to 70 mm². The auxiliary/coil terminals accept solid conductors 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) or 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²). For a panel wireman, the 70 mm² upper limit on the mains means this contactor can handle up to roughly 150 A cable — well above the contactor's own rated current, so the limiting factor is the contactor rating, not the lug capacity. The storage limit governs handling during transport and warehouse idle — not running conditions.
For a BOM freeze or MRO planner, this means the part is a safe line-item for new designs and ongoing maintenance spares.
