What the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens 3RT2346-1AB00 is a SIRIUS size S3 contactor with a 24 VAC 50 Hz coil and screw-type terminals. The AC-1 resistive current rating of 10 A at 24 V, 6 A at 230 V, and 3 A at 400 V tells you the continuous current it can carry in resistive loads at those voltages; for motor (AC-3) duty, the same contactor will switch a lower current — the 690 V rating of 1 A gives the upper bound for inductive loads at high voltage. The 10 million mechanical cycles mean the contactor is rated for high-cycle applications like packaging lines or conveyor systems where the part will see frequent switching over years of service. Mounting is via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, with a mounting position that allows +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface and +/-22.5° tilt forward/backward. The 96 mm width, 140 mm height, and 152 mm depth fit a standard S3 footprint — measure your DIN rail space against these dimensions before committing the BOM line.
Integration into the panel
The contactor accepts solid wires 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) and 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²) on the coil terminals, and stranded wires from 6 to 70 mm² on the main contacts. The auxiliary switch is present, so you can wire status feedback without an add-on block. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C; storage range is -55 to +80 °C. The arcing time of 10 to 20 ms and AC operating time of 10 to 21 ms are within standard contactor timing — no special coordination needed for most PLC-driven circuits.
