It carries a 24 V AC coil and spring-loaded terminals on both the main and auxiliary circuits, so there's no screw to torque — just strip, insert, and seat the wire. Rated operational current hits 10 A at both 24 V and 230 V under AC-1 duty (resistive load), which covers most heater and transformer switching. For motor starting (AC-3), the rating drops — the contactor is sized for smaller drives and fractional-horsepower motors typical of conveyor sections and pump auxiliaries. The coil holds in at 24 V AC nominal; the pickup and dropout thresholds are set for standard control transformer regulation.
The S00 frame measures 45 mm wide by 70 mm tall and 73 mm deep, so it fits a standard 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022. You can snap it on or screw-mount it. Side-by-side mounting is allowed with zero spacing on all sides except 6 mm clearance needed laterally for arc venting. That gives you room to fit it into tight gland-plate layouts or behind swing frames without derating. No ferrule required, but a ferrule makes insertion smoother in multi-conductor runs.
Environmental and lifecycle reality
The SIRIUS S00 family is widely used across Siemens panel designs, so the 3RT2517-2BM40 is a common BOM line for machine builders and retrofit jobs.
