Capacitor switching — why this contactor is different
The 3RT2625-1BF45: This is a SIRIUS capacitor contactor, not a general-purpose contactor. The difference is in the switching profile: capacitor banks draw high inrush current when energised, and the contactor's arc chamber and contact material are engineered to handle that repetitive capacitive surge without welding. The DC coil variant means the contactor holds in without AC hum and can be driven directly from a 24 V PLC output or DC power supply — no need for an interposing relay.
Size S0 frame, 45 mm wide, 135 mm high, 165 mm deep. The 10 mm² stranded entry handles the main power feed without a ferrule — common on capacitor bank wiring where the cable is sized for continuous current plus the inrush margin.
