What the switching ratings mean for capacitor duty
Capacitor contactors are rated for the inrush current of a capacitor bank, not for motor starting. At 400 V, the 3 A rating covers about 2 kvar three-phase. The maximum switching frequency is 100 operations per hour across the voltage range from 230 V to 690 V. The arcing time is 10 ms, and the AC switching time is 4 to 16 ms.
