Capacitor Switching Contactor for Power Factor Correction
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT2645-1AB03 is a dedicated capacitor contactor from the SIRIUS family, designed for switching capacitor banks in power factor correction (PFC) panels. It is rated for 6 A at 230 V AC and 3 A at 400 V AC, with a maximum switching frequency of 200 operations per hour at 230 V and 100 per hour at 400 V — meaning it handles repetitive capacitor inrush without excessive wear. The coil is 24 V AC, 50 Hz, with screw-type terminals for the magnet coil. The contactor is size S3 and mounts via screw or snap-on onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022, fitting standard panel layouts.
Wiring and Termination
Solid conductors: accepts 2x (0.5…1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75…2.5 mm²), or 2x 4 mm². Stranded conductors: 2x (16…70 mm²) or 1x (16…70 mm²). At 40 °C, a single 70 mm² conductor is allowed; at 60 °C, two 50 mm² conductors. The screw terminals suit panel wiring with ferruled or solid wire. Dimensions: 80 mm wide, 140 mm high, 152 mm deep — the depth matters for enclosure depth clearance in retrofit panels.
Environmental and Mounting Flexibility
Operating temperature range -25 to +60 °C; storage from -55 to +80 °C. Mounting position allows ±180° rotation on a vertical surface, and can be tilted forward/backward by ±22.5° — useful for tight cabinet layouts.
