Capacitor switching contactor — S3 frame
The Siemens 3RT2646-1AV03 is a SIRIUS capacitor contactor, Size S3, designed for switching capacitive loads — power factor correction banks, filter stages — where the inrush current and re-strike voltage demand a contactor with dedicated damping.
Coil ratings and switching frequency
At 230 V and 240 V the contactor can switch at up to 150 operations per hour; at 400 V the rate drops to 80 ops/h, and at 690 V to 30 ops/h. The arcing time spans 10 to 20 ms, with a closing time of 10 to 21 ms — fast enough for most capacitor switching sequences but not for high-speed inverter pre-charge circuits.
An auxiliary contact block can be attached.
Temperature and environment
Dimensions: 152 mm deep, 80 mm wide, 140 mm high — the S3 footprint fits standard 400 A MCC buckets.
