What this RC snubber does for the S00 contactor
The 3RT2916-1CF00-ZX90 is an RC-element surge suppressor designed to clip voltage transients from inductive loads — specifically the coil of a Siemens SIRIUS size S00 contactor or motor starter. Without it, every time the contactor drops out, the collapsing magnetic field can punch a spike back into the control circuit, eating into the PLC output or relay life. Rated for AC control supply voltage 400–600 V at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz, it covers the common European and North American line voltages for industrial control transformers. The RC network absorbs the stored energy in the coil and dissipates it as heat, keeping the peak off-state voltage below the coil's insulation rating. Clip-on mounting means it snaps directly onto the contactor's own terminal posts — no extra DIN-rail slot needed. The 9 mm depth and 28 mm width keep the assembly within the S00 envelope, so panel fill factor doesn't change.
Panel integration and environmental limits
Mounts in any position — horizontal, vertical, or upside-down — because the RC components are fully encapsulated and orientation doesn't affect thermal performance. Operating range is -25 to +60 °C, storage from -40 to +80 °C, which covers most indoor panel environments. The 46 mm height and 28 mm width match the S00 contactor body, so the assembly fits standard 35 mm DIN-rail enclosures without overhang. The clip-on fastening method eliminates the need for a separate mounting bracket or screw.
