What this RC suppressor does on an S2 contactor coil
The Siemens 3RT2936-1CC00-ZX90 is a SIRIUS-series RC-type surge suppressor for contactor size S2. It clips onto the coil terminals and suppresses the voltage spike when the coil de-energizes. The RC element is rated for AC control voltages of 48...127 V at 50/60 Hz and DC control voltages of 70...150 V.
Fit and mounting — clips on, no wiring change
This suppressor is a clip-on accessory that snaps directly onto the S2 contactor's coil terminals — no additional wiring, no DIN-rail space consumed. The dimensions are compact: 30 mm wide, 30 mm tall, and only 15 mm deep. That 15 mm depth means it adds minimal projection beyond the contactor body, so it won't interfere with adjacent devices in a densely packed panel.
What the voltage range covers
The AC range of 48...127 V at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz covers standard 110 VAC and 120 VAC control circuits, as well as 48 VAC and 60 VAC systems common in some industrial installations. The DC range of 70...150 V handles 125 VDC control buses and the 110 VDC circuits found in utility substations and some European panel designs. The AC/DC designation means the same suppressor works on either supply type — no need to order separate AC and DC variants.
The substance prohibition date of 10/01/2014 indicates RoHS compliance as of that date, which covers the EU RoHS directive and similar global restrictions.
