SIRIUS S10 Power Contactor for Motor Loads
The Siemens 3RT5065-6AB36 is a SIRIUS-brand power contactor in size S10, designed for switching three-phase motor loads in industrial control panels. Its rated motor power at 400 V and 60 °C ambient is 197 kW, with a 1 000 V rated insulation voltage. The contactor uses screw-type terminals for the main current circuit, accepting wire from 2/0 to 500 kcmil AWG, and includes a built-in varistor for surge suppression across the coil. Mounting is via screw fixing to a vertical surface, with the enclosure allowing ±90° rotation and ±22.5° tilt front-to-back. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, so panel density can be optimized without derating for proximity heat.
Ratings Under Load and Ambient Conditions
Motor power ratings are specified at 60 °C ambient, which is the operating condition that governs real panel performance: 113 kW at 230 V, 197 kW at 400 V, and 340 kW at 690 V. The contactor is rated for AC-1 resistive loads at up to 800 switching cycles per hour, AC-3 motor starting at 700 cycles per hour, and AC-4 plugging/reversing at 130 cycles per hour. Mechanical life is listed at 10 million operations typical. The coil operates on a 23–26 V range at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz, drawing 6 A at 24 V rated value. For control circuit verification: at 110 V the holding current is 1 A, at 220 V it drops to 0.3 A. The integrated varistor suppresses inductive kickback on coil de-energization, which simplifies panel wiring — no external snubber needed for most PLC outputs.
Integration Notes for the Panel Builder
Physical footprint: 210 mm height, 145 mm width, 202 mm depth. The depth dimension is the critical one for enclosure depth selection — at 202 mm, it fits standard 300 mm deep enclosures with clearance for wiring. Screw-type terminals on the main circuit require a torque driver for the 2/0–500 kcmil range; the control circuit terminals are separate and accept smaller gauge. Side-by-side mounting without spacing is permitted, so multiple S10 contactors can be ganged on a subplate without derating.
