S00 frame, screw terminals, 45 mm wide
The Siemens 3RT6016-1AF02 is a SIRIUS S00-frame power contactor with screw-type terminals for the main current circuit. It snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022 and measures 45 mm wide by 57.5 mm high by 73 mm deep — a compact footprint that leaves room on the rail for auxiliary blocks or an overload relay. Rated insulation voltage is 690 V, and at 60 °C ambient it delivers 7.5 kW at 230 V, 13 kW at 400 V, and 22 kW at 690 V — the numbers that matter when sizing for a motor load in a warm panel. The operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C, with storage from -55 to +80 °C. Pollution degree 3 means it's rated for the conductive-dust and humidity conditions typical of industrial control panels — not just clean, climate-controlled rooms. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, so you can gang multiple contactors without derating for heat buildup between units.
Mounting and wiring flexibility
Mounting position allows +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface and can be tilted forward or backward by +/-22.5° — useful when the contactor sits on a swing panel or a slanted subplate. Screw terminals accept 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or 2x 4 mm² solid or stranded copper. Minimum wire size at 40 °C is 4 mm²; at 60 °C it's 2.5 mm² — that derating tells you the terminal temperature rise under full load. Mechanical life is 30 million operating cycles typical. The coil draws 0.25 A at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz, so line frequency doesn't change the control-circuit load. Switching frequency maxes out at 10,000 operations per hour for general use, with AC-3 duty limited to 750 ops/h and AC-4 to 250 ops/h — the AC-4 figure is the one to watch if you're doing plugging or inching.
