Siemens 3RT6016-1AK22 — SIRIUS Power Contactor, Size S00
It is rated for 13 kW at 400 V at 60 °C, and up to 22 kW at 690 V at 60 °C, making it suitable for three-phase induction motors driving pumps, conveyors, and fans. The contactor mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022, and its mounting position allows +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface plus +/-22.5° tilt forward and backward — useful when panel layout forces an unconventional orientation. At 73 mm depth, 45 mm width, and 57.5 mm height, the S00 footprint fits tightly in crowded enclosures; side-by-side mounting is permitted without derating for heat buildup.
Motor Ratings and Duty Cycles
The 3RT6016-1AK22 delivers 7.5 kW at 230 V, 13 kW at 400 V, and 22 kW at 690 V — all at 60 °C ambient, which is the realistic operating condition inside a sealed panel. The AC-3 and AC-3e maximum operating voltage is 690 V, covering 400 V and 480 V systems with headroom. Mechanical life is 30,000,000 operations typical. Electrical life: AC-1 up to 1,000 cycles/hour, AC-3 up to 750 cycles/hour, AC-4 up to 250 cycles/hour. Maximum switching rate is 10,000 cycles/hour.
The contactor also carries the standard Siemens CE and UL certifications for the SIRIUS line.
Main current circuit connections use screw-type terminals, accepting solid or stranded conductors: 2x (0.5–1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75–2.5 mm²), or 2x 4 mm². Minimum permissible cross-section at 40 °C is 4 mm², and at 60 °C it is 2.5 mm² — important for sizing conductors in high-ambient panels. Coil ratings: 6 A at 24 V, 10 A at 230 V, 3 A at 400 V, and 1 A at 690 V.
