SIRIUS S00 contactor for motor loads up to 22 kW
The Siemens 3RT6016-1AM21 is a SIRIUS S00 power contactor rated for motor switching at 7.5 kW at 230 V, 13 kW at 400 V, and 22 kW at 690 V — all at 60 °C ambient, which is the derated operating condition that governs real panel build. That means it handles a 22 kW 690 V motor without needing a larger frame, keeping the panel footprint at 45 mm wide. It mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022, and the mounting position allows ±180° rotation on a vertical surface plus ±22.5° tilt forward and backward — useful when the contactor sits in a swing-frame or angled sub-panel. Main circuit connections use screw-type terminals accepting 2x (0.5…1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75…2.5 mm²), or 2x 4 mm² solid or stranded. Minimum conductor size at 40 °C is 4 mm², at 60 °C it's 2.5 mm² — the higher ambient forces a larger wire to carry the same current.
Lifecycle and compliance — active, RoHS-compliant
Substance prohibitance date is 05/01/2012, confirming RoHS compliance. The insulation voltage is rated 690 V, and the pollution degree is 3 (conductive pollution or dry non-conductive pollution that becomes conductive due to condensation — typical in industrial control panels).
Switching frequency and mechanical endurance
Mechanical endurance is 30,000,000 operating cycles typical. Maximum switching frequency at AC-1 is 1,000 1/h, at AC-3 it's 750 1/h, and at AC-4 it's 250 1/h. The AC-3e maximum matches the AC-3 figure at 750 1/h. The rated operating frequency at 50/60 Hz is 0.25 — that's the power factor at which the contactor's making/breaking capacity is verified. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C during operation, storage from -55 to +80 °C. Side-by-side mounting is permitted without derating — the 45 mm width is the installed width per unit.
Coil ratings and auxiliary contact capacity
The coil draws 6 A at 24 V rated value, 1 A at 110 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, and 10 A at 230 V — the 230 V figure is the inrush for the AC coil. At 400 V the coil draws 3 A, at 690 V it draws 1 A. The coil supply is rated at 208 V at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz.
