Motor ratings that survive the steam and the chemicals
At 60 °C ambient — common inside a non-ventilated MCC bucket or a pulp-mill motor control centre — the contactor still delivers 13 kW at 400 V and 22 kW at 690 V. That's not a best-case number at 40 °C; it's the rating that matters when the panel is hot and the load is continuous.
Maximum mechanical switching rate is 10 000 operations per hour, but that's the mechanism limit. For AC-3 motor starts the practical ceiling is 750 1/h, and for AC-4 (plugging / inching) it drops to 250 1/h. If your application cycles faster than that — say a high-speed indexing conveyor — step up to a larger frame or a dedicated reversing contactor pair. The 24 V DC coil draws 6 A inrush (rated value), settling to a holding current around 0.25 A at 50/60 Hz. At 230 V the coil draw is 10 A inrush. Verify your control transformer and fuse sizing: a 24 V DC supply feeding multiple contactors needs headroom for simultaneous pickup.
