SIRIUS 3RT6017-1KB42 — Coupling Contactor, 24 VDC, Size S00
The Siemens 3RT6017-1KB42 is a SIRIUS coupling contactor in size S00, designed for switching auxiliary and control circuits where a 24 VDC coil is specified. It mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, and the mounting position allows ±180° rotation on a vertical surface plus ±22.5° tilt forward/backward — useful when panel layout forces an unconventional orientation.
Motor Power Ratings & Duty Cycles
For motor switching, the 3RT6017-1KB42 delivers 7.5 kW at 230 V, 13 kW at 400 V, and 22 kW at 690 V (all at 60 °C ambient). The AC-3 maximum switching rate is 750 1/h, and AC-4 (plugging/reversing) drops to 250 1/h — that's the limit for high-duty-cycle applications like reversing conveyors or crane motions. The insulation voltage is rated 690 V, and the AC-3 maximum operating voltage matches at 690 V, so it's suitable for 400 V and 690 V line-fed motors within the power envelope.
Coil Suppression & Wiring
The surge suppressor is a built-in diode, so the coil is polarity-sensitive — verify +24 VDC to the correct terminal before energizing. Main circuit terminals accept 2x (0.5–1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75–2.5 mm²), or 2x 4 mm² solid/stranded; AWG equivalents are 2x (20–16), 2x (18–14), or 2x 12. At 40 °C the minimum permissible conductor is 4 mm²; at 60 °C it's 2.5 mm² — derate the wire if the panel ambient runs hot.
