SIRIUS S00 — what this contactor is built for
The 3RT6018-1AN22 is a Siemens SIRIUS S00 power contactor, screw-type terminals, designed for switching three-phase motor loads up to 22 kW at 690 V under AC-3e duty. At 400 V and 60 °C ambient it delivers 13 kW; at 230 V the same condition yields 7.5 kW. These are the numbers a panel builder uses for the nameplate rating, not the no-derate headline.
DIN rail fit and mounting freedom
Width is 45 mm, depth 73 mm, height 57.5 mm. Snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022 — the S00 footprint is the smallest in the SIRIUS contactor family, so it fits tight sub-distribution boards. Mounting position is flexible: ±180° rotation on a vertical surface, plus ±22.5° tilt forward/backward. Side-by-side mounting is allowed, so you can gang several contactors without spacing gaps.
Mechanical life and switching rates
Mechanical endurance is 30 000 000 operating cycles — this is the contactor's structural limit before the armature or spring set wears out, not the electrical contact life under load. Maximum switching rate at AC-3 is 750 cycles per hour, at AC-4 it drops to 250 cycles per hour. For high-duty jogging or inching applications the AC-4 ceiling governs the real throughput.
Termination and wire handling
Screw terminals accept 2x (0.5…1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75…2.5 mm²), or 2x 4 mm² solid or stranded wire. At 40 °C the minimum permissible conductor is 4 mm²; at 60 °C it is 2.5 mm² — the higher ambient derates the current-carrying capacity, so the wire size must follow.
Lifecycle and compliance
Substance prohibitance date is 05/01/2012, aligning with RoHS and REACH compliance for the EU market. Degree of pollution 3 means it is rated for conductive pollution environments — typical in industrial control panels without climate control.
