What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT6018-1BM41 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the compact Size S00 frame, designed for switching three-phase motors and resistive loads in control panels. It mounts on 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022 via screw and snap-on fastening, and accepts screw-type terminals for both main and auxiliary circuits. Rated insulation voltage is 690 V, and the contactor carries motor ratings of 7.5 kW at 230 V, 13 kW at 400 V, and 22 kW at 690 V — all at a 60 °C ambient, which is the derated figure you need for a warm panel. That 22 kW at 690 V tells you it handles higher-voltage motors without stepping up a frame size. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C, with storage from -55 to +80 °C. Pollution degree 3 means it's rated for industrial environments with conductive pollution — no special enclosure needed for typical panel duty.
Panel fit and mounting
Dimensions are 45 mm wide, 57.5 mm high, and 73 mm deep — the S00 footprint is the smallest SIRIUS contactor frame, saving DIN-rail space in dense panels. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, so you can gang multiple units without spacing gaps. Mounting position allows +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface and +/-22.5° tilt forward/backward, giving flexibility for angled panel layouts or tight enclosures.
Switching performance and coil data
Mechanical life is 30 million operations typical. Maximum switching frequency at AC-3 duty is 750 cycles per hour (AC-3e same), and at DC it's 10,000 cycles per hour — that 10k figure is for DC control circuits, not main contacts, so keep that distinction when sizing for high-cycling applications. Coil draws 6 A at 24 V rated value, 1 A at 110 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, 10 A at 230 V, 3 A at 400 V, and 1 A at 690 V. The 10 A at 230 V is the inrush — the holding current is lower, but your control transformer needs to handle that peak.
